江戶時代發展而成的日本獨特說故事藝能。演者坐著不動，卻能演繹多個人物，以機智風趣的故事吸引聽眾。古典落語的演目數百齣，在描繪江戶文化與人性心理上具有高度藝術性。已登錄聯合國教科文組織無形文化遺產名錄，位居日本言語藝術之最高峰，兼具語言精妙、人物塑造與喜劇時序感。

日本特有的大眾歌謠類型。以昭和時代平民的哀愁與人生經歷為歌詞主題，搭配大量顫音的獨特唱法為其特色。石川佐由里與北島三郎等眾多演歌歌手作為日本文化象徵而享譽國際。透過電視播映權，演歌至今仍代表日本當代大眾文化。

戰後日本的代表音樂類型，以演歌歌手情感豐沛而有力的歌聲特色，展現人生的喜怒哀樂，是日本獨特的音樂文化。融合津輕三味線與民謠元素，以深刻捕捉日本人心境的歌詞和高超的音樂技巧見長。

日本講演藝術，以歷史小說與武勇傳奇為題材。異於落語，講談師坐於木製講台前，運用木製拍子木敲擊節奏，以宏亮而富於戲劇感的聲調講述故事。源自江戶時代，並因「時事講談」而聞名——講談師會即時以明治維新等當代歷史大事為素材進行演說。

Japanese folk culture continuing from the Edo period. Dances performed during summer Obon to honor ancestors. Each region develops unique styles, spawning famous festivals like Awa Dance and Aomori Nebuta. As a symbol of common people's cultural transmission and creative innovation, it remains active in bon dances nationwide.

Traditional Japanese oral arts developed during the Edo period. Kodan powerfully narrates historical and heroic stories, while Rakugo performs humorous daily tales in darkened theaters. Using fans and percussion tools with rich vocal expression, they captivate audiences. Today, they remain actively transmitted through organizations like the Rakugo Association.

A classical comic form paired with Noh, depicting humorous everyday situations. Evolved from Sarugaku traditions, it employs wordplay and physical comedy to entertain audiences. Two schools—Ōkura and Izumi—continue the tradition, designated as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
