Benshi Silent Film Narration

A major Japanese film production system established by Toho in 1937. Modeled after the Hollywood studio system, it established a business model featuring exclusive contracts with actors, directors, and crew. It produced numerous cultural assets including Godzilla, Ultraman, and historical dramas, becoming the backbone of post-war Japanese cinema.
