Japanese Taiko Drumming Culture

A taiko ensemble originating from Sado, Niigata Prefecture, founded in 1981. It blends traditional taiko drumming techniques with contemporary artistic creativity, establishing a unique performance style. Through worldwide tours, Kodo has been a pioneer in promoting Japanese taiko culture globally and remains one of the world's most recognized Japanese performing arts groups.

A ghost storytelling art inherited since the Edo period. Distinct from rakugo and kodan traditions, it fuses fear with aesthetic beauty in Japanese folklore. Continued by contemporary kaidan tellers, it is particularly famous through summer kaidan gatherings held nationwide, maintaining its cultural significance.

日本傳統舞蹈，於盂蘭盆節期間舞動以供養祖先靈魂。通常在木製高臺（稱為「屋形」）周圍排成圓圈跳舞，各地區各有獨特的舞步與音樂風格。海外日僑社區亦定期舉辦，作為參與式的傳統藝能，讓人得以體驗日本文化。

日本全國祭典中的舞蹈與戲劇表現。盂蘭盆舞、獅子舞、神樂等地方舞蹈，各自代表了在地文化傳統。源自農業與豐收儀式，至今仍在季節祭典中實踐。此類表演象徵地方認同，構成世代相傳的活文化遺產。

高知縣發祥的祭典舞蹈，特色是舞者手持鳴子（木製拍板）起舞。1954年始創的高知よさこい祭，因其允許自由編舞與服裝設計的彈性特質而在全國蔓延，並在各地演化出獨特風格，如「YOSAKOIソーラン祭り」等。

融合高知土佐舞祭典與北海道索蘭民謠的創作舞蹈。以團隊形式展現的動感表演逐漸在全國各地蔚為風潮，更發展成為吸引海外舞團參與的國際性舞蹈盛事。

日本特有的大眾歌謠類型。以昭和時代平民的哀愁與人生經歷為歌詞主題，搭配大量顫音的獨特唱法為其特色。石川佐由里與北島三郎等眾多演歌歌手作為日本文化象徵而享譽國際。透過電視播映權，演歌至今仍代表日本當代大眾文化。
