Aomori Nebuta Festival

A lantern festival held annually in August in Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture. Featuring large, ornamental paper lanterns (neputa) depicting powerful warrior images inspired by Edo-period Tosa painting traditions, it parades through the city in a spectacular display of light and sound.
