Yatai (food stalls) concentrated in Fukuoka's Nakasu and Tenjin districts epitomize nighttime street food culture. Operating exclusively after dark, they offer Fukuoka's famous tonkotsu ramen, grilled chicken, and karaage while fostering casual interactions between locals and visitors. Descended from postwar food culture recovery efforts, these stalls represent the roots of Fukuoka's nightlife and exemplify Asia's prominent street food scene.

Food culture created by dense clusters of yatai (food carts) along the Nakagawa River flowing through Fukuoka.
