Nachi Waterfall Veneration and Sacred Water Sites

A network of pilgrimage routes leading to Kumano Sanzan (three Kumano shrines) in the Kii Peninsula. Registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004 as 'Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range.' Multiple routes including Nakahechi, Ohechi, and Kohechi have been traveled by ascetics and believers for centuries as paths of spiritual practice and faith, representing a historically significant pilgrimage network.

位於和歌山縣那智勝浦町、落差達133公尺的日本最大級瀑布。自古以來作為崇敬水與瀑布神聖性的聖地，成為修驗者的修行場所。瀑布本身被神聖化，並作為那智大社的攝社而受祭祀。參詣者透過瀑布冷修行來淨化身心，一體驗水的潔淨作用與自然的靈性。

Nachi Waterfall in Nachi-Katsuura, Wakayama, is one of Japan's three great waterfalls and has functioned as a Shugendo training site since antiquity. Water worship and spiritual cultivation through waterfall asceticism characterize the practice. The waterfall itself is considered sacred, with pilgrims performing prayers and meditation at its base. Attracting about 1 million annual visitors, it represents quintessential Japanese water and nature worship.

前往伊勢神宮的參詣在江戶時代掀起庶民朝聖熱潮，流傳著「一生一度的伊勢參宮」的說法。除了門前町的飲食文化——如おかげ横丁的邊走邊吃風景和赤福餅——至今仍被視為日本人精神旅程的原點。
