Takachiho Gorge Mythology and Tourism

A gorge in Nishi-Usuki, Miyazaki. Features 7 kilometers of striking canyon landscape with distinctive columnar jointing V-shaped valley. Boat tours are popular. Known as the birthplace of mythology, the setting of the Ama-no-Iwato legend. Approximately 500,000 visitors annually, offering experience of Japan's mythological and natural fusion.

位於德島縣三好市的深峽谷，以祖谷川的湍急水流與陡峭懸崖著稱。「祖谷的葛藤橋」是一座用樹皮編製而成的原始吊橋，每年吸引約80萬名遊客前往。峽谷秀麗的自然景觀與未經開發的環境成為重要觀光資源，是日本自然觀光的代表景點。

A 14-km gorge along the border of Towada and Akita, formed by the Oirase River flowing from Lake Towada. Its autumn foliage is among Japan's most spectacular, with dozens of waterfalls including Shiraito and Chōshi Ōtaki. Moss-covered rocks and crystal waters along hiking trails create a picturesque landscape.

Mythological heritage sites in Takachiho, Miyazaki linked to Japanese mythology. Concentrated sites include Takachiho Peak, legendary landing site of heavenly grandchildren, and Amanoiwato Shrine. Throughout the year, mythology-related festivals and rituals are conducted, with ancient faith still alive. The entire region is recognized as living cultural heritage.
