We are JAPAN IP CATALYST ("JIC," "we," "us," "our"), an online catalogue that compiles Japanese intellectual properties and introduces them to editors, creators, and licensees around the world. The same quiet, careful editing we bring to our catalogue, we bring to how we handle your personal information.

2. Information We Collect

(1) Via Google Analytics 4: Cookie identifiers (GA4 Client ID), anonymised IP, page URL, timestamp, dwell time, referrer, device/browser/language, country/city geolocation. Collected only when you select "Accept" on the cookie consent banner; if you "Decline," the GA4 script is never loaded.

(2) Via contact form: Name, email, affiliation (optional), message content.

(3) Via newsletter "Credits Roll" sign-up: Email, preferred language, timestamp.

(4) Via data deletion / rights-holder opt-out requests: Requester name, email, target content, reason.

We do not collect special category or sensitive personal information.

5. Cookies

We use cookies only for analytics, and only after your consent. On first visit, the cookie consent banner asks for your choice. "Accept" loads GA4; "Decline" does not load GA4 at all. Withdraw consent any time by clearing jic_cookie_consent in localStorage or via your browser settings.

6. Content Displayed via Instagram oEmbed

We embed public Instagram posts from official accounts of Japanese IP rights holders using Meta's Instagram oEmbed API. We do not embed fan accounts or posts from individual users. Upon a rights holder's removal request, we hide the relevant page and purge the related cache within 48 hours.

7. Your Rights

Access / Rectification / Erasure / Suspension of use / Suspension of third-party sharing / Data portability (GDPR) / Opt-out of sale (CCPA — note we do not sell personal information).

8. International Data Transfers

Our processors Google LLC, Vercel Inc., and Meta Platforms, Inc. are located outside Japan. Your personal information may be transferred outside Japan. These processors rely on GDPR Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or equivalent protections.

9. Children's Information

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Any such information found will be deleted promptly.

10. Security

TLS 1.3 transmission encryption, AES-256 at-rest encryption, contractual confidentiality with processors, access log monitoring.
