Matsumoto Castle Kabuki Performance

An organization dedicated to training and preserving Edo Kabuki traditions. It functions as a practice space where young Kabuki actors learn from fundamentals to advanced techniques. Beyond traditional iemoto system, it provides more open learning environment, contributing to cultivating new generations of Kabuki performers while maintaining Edo artistic style and providing contemporary technical instruction.

Classic plays such as 'Chushingura' and 'Kanjincho' showcase complex stagecraft, elaborate costumes, and refined acting to explore human drama. Transmitted through legendary actors including Ichikawa Danjuro and Bandо Tamasaburo, kabuki represents the pinnacle of Japanese theatrical achievement, earning high regard both domestically and internationally.

A festival held in Takayama, Gifu Prefecture, preserving Edo-period ceremonial traditions. Held in spring and autumn, elaborate festival floats parade through city streets.
